• The PAM reactor is packed inside the main compartment of the shipping crate.
  • A hinged compartment at the top of the crate contains cables, inlet plumbing, and other accessories.
  •  Most of the cables are unique and there is only one way to plug them in. Here are a few recommendations:
    • Connect the lamps to the "PAMLamps1", "PAMLamps2" and "Ozone Lamp" connectors on the front of the electronics box using the supplied cables. Line up the "PL1" and "PL2" labels on the PAM lamps and PAM lamp cables.
    • Take care not to insert the mating connector on the lamp cable to the connector on the front of the box at an angle, otherwise the pins from the cable can catch the lip of the sockets in the female connector and it is possible to push in those sockets so that they are out of the reach of the pins of the cable if enough force is applied.
    • Connect the RH/T probe and photodiode using the supplied cables. Plug in the photodiode cable before turning on power to the control box.
    • Connect the autovalve to "Autovalve 1" 9-pin connector on the front of the electronics box using the supplied DB9 cable.
    • Connect the I/O box to the "I/O Box" 25-pin connector on the front of the electronics box using the supplied DB25 cable.

  • The "U-shaped" piece of stainless steel tubing connects the humidifier to the inlet tee's.
  • Connect compressed N2 to the inlet tee that is connected to the lamp holders labeled "Purge N2 in". Critical orifices are included - active purge gas flow control is not required.
  • Humidifier: The water bottle with barbed fitting is held in the mounting bracket on the top of the frame. The 1/4" fitting at the end of the Tygon tubing connects to one of the inlet ports of the stainless steel humidifier housing. Note that the required connection depends on whether sample flow is being "pushed" or "pulled" through the Nafion membrane:
  • The short length of black FEP tubing attached to the inlet tee's connects to the output of the ozone chamber.
  • A positive-displacement flow meter is used to facilitate flow balance between carrier gas flows at the inlet of the reactor, and instrument or makeup flows at the exit of the reactor.
  • After assembly steps outlined in figure, connect inlet port (bottom) with "dump flow" if pushing sample to reactor inlet
  • Connect included inline particle filter upstream of inlet port
  • Connect outlet fitting to exhaust.
  • MKS Flow Controllers (if used):
    • Install flow controller shelf on top of blue shelf. Secure the MFC shelf with included mounting hardware.
    • Connect supply gases to flow controller inlet ports.
    • Connect flow controller oulet ports to inlet of humidifier (N2), ozone chamber (O2 or zero air), and elsewhere as needed.
  • Sample Line Flow Controller (if used):
  • Install included ozone scrubber vertically in mounting bracket (see figure) .
  • Connect teflon tubing from ring flow port to top port of ozone scrubber.
  • Connect teflon tubing from bottom port of ozone scrubber to inlet of SLFC.

Syringe Pump (if used):
